FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Speed Lab installs chassis dynamometer at AUTOMEKANIKA.

State-of-the-art dyno service is unique in the Chicago metropolitan area.

January 22, 2001 -- Speed Lab, L.L.C. announced today that it has reached agreement with AUTOMEKANIKA, Inc. to offer chassis dynamometer services at the AUTOMEKANIKA service facility in Spring Grove, IL.  This brand new equipment is the most advanced chassis dynamometer system available and is unmatched in the Chicago metropolitan area.

The key component of this agreement is the AutoDyn Chassis Dynamometer with Eddy Current Power Absorber manufactured by Superflow Corporation.  This device determines torque and horsepower at a vehicle’s drive wheels, and is capable of measuring a variety of other real time vehicle parameters.  Setting up a vehicle to run on the AutoDyn Dynamometer is fast, simple and safe.  A vehicle is driven into position over the dynamometer (dyno) which is recessed into the floor.  The operator secures the vehicle in position with safety straps, then “drives” the vehicle on the dynamometer while a computer monitors data inputs from the dynamometer and from the vehicle.  Energy is imparted by the vehicle drive wheels into a rotating mass (drum), sized to simulate the inertia of a vehicle driven on the road.  While measuring acceleration of the drum, the computer calculates torque and horsepower throughout the engine’s RPM range.  Results are displayed as easy to interpret graphical output.

The eddy current power absorber feature gives the AutoDyn unique, and significantly expanded capabilities relative to similar equipment on the market.  The computerized data acquisition and control provides precise, repeatable measurements making this dynamometer the ultimate tool for verifying vehicle performance, and for illustrating the before-and-after benefits of powertrain tuning or enhancement.   A range of data acquisition is possible beyond just rpm and acceleration data.  A few of these include A/F ratio (lambda); up to 16 channels of exhaust gas temperatures (EGT); fuel, coolant, and oil pressures and temperatures; manifold pressure (MAP) or boost pressure.  Wheel alignment services and vehicle corner weight measurements with precision scales are also offered.

This brand, Speed Lab Dyno Testing Services, will be marketed as a highly recognized, state-of-the-art, vehicle performance, data acquisition service.  It is a technology driven business that must continually incorporate, and expand into, emerging data acquisition and data processing tools.

Robert Payton, General Manager of Speed Lab, L.L.C. is optimistic about the agreement with AUTOMEKANIKA, "this combination of the AUTOMEKANIKA racing and street performance business, and our state-of-the art vehicle testing equipment, brings a powerful capability to both professional sports and racing car builders as well as grass roots performance enthusiasts."

Speed Lab, L.L.C. is organized in the state of Illinois and provides advanced dynamometer equipment and other vehicle testing services for service professionals, performance enthusiasts and race teams.  AUTOMEKANIKA is a specialty automotive service provider located in Spring Grove, IL offering customer satisfaction through expert repair and maintenance of fine automobiles.
